My fondness for Springerles stems from of a love of tradition and nostalgia. The pictures carved into the molds represented events or stories of the times. Working with the historical pictures on the molds and with my great-grandmother’s recipe connects me to the past.
Springerle Traditions was created in order to share my love of the springerle cookies and the history they represent. We are small company based in Michigan and are an authorized retailer of House on the Hill and Anis-Paradies molds. These molds, made of food-safe resin, are high quality reproductions of original wood molds that are in museums or private collections, some dating back to the 1600s.
At Springerle Traditions, we pride ourselves on offering high quality customer service. If you are in search of a particular mold or subject and don’t see what you want, please contact us and we will attempt to find what you’re looking for. Our site is in the process of being updated with additional molds, recipes, and techniques, so check back often. We look forward to hearing from you!
A Link to the Past…
Springerles were always a part of our family Christmas celebration so I don’t remember a time without them. My grandmother was the family springerle baker in my lifetime but she learned from her grandmother who emigrated from Bavaria. When I was about 10, she decided it was time that I learned the skill. From that time on, we had two springerle traditions in our family. One was my eagerly awaited time spent with Grandma every December perfecting my springerle baking skills. The second was my father and grandfather’s eager anticipation of devouring the finished products. This tradition is now being carried on with an expanded collection of resin molds from House on the Hill and Anis-Paradies.
